Sam Jukes presents: Feral Systems: Entangled Wildness
Jukes’s practice explores ecology, sound, and our relationship with the environment through installation, sculpture, and moving image.
Feral Systems: Entangled Wildness is a multimedia installation of sound, sculpture, and film that explores and celebrates the ecological interrelationships found within the growing patchwork of wild and rewilded landscapes around Hooke and the Brit Valley.
The exhibition features a series of large sculptural forms inspired by structures found within the landscape. These forms operate simultaneously as evocative sculptural objects, bespoke loudspeakers, and projection surfaces.
Drawing from the natural environment, the work amplifies the voices, rhythms, and resonances of local ecologies, inviting visitors to encounter the landscape through listening. Sound recordings and films made within nearby wild places are brought together to create an immersive environment that encourages reflection on the complex relationships between people, landscape, and ecology.
The exhibition opens with an immersive viewing and listening event on Friday 10 July, 6–9pm, and continues on Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July, 10am–4.30pm.
