FACILITIES

The renovation works in 2002/2003 saw the north transept of St. Peter’s partitioned off to reduce the main body of the chapel seating but provide a self enclosed space for toilets (including a handicapped toilet) and a small fully equipped kitchen from which refreshments can be served.

Jazz concert at Eype Church Centre for the Arts at St. Peter’sSt. Peter’s can now seat 200 and a few more at a pinch when staging a particular popular event. The chairs are comfortable and can be stacked out of the way for exhibitions. As the venue has become better known audiences no longer bring cushions thinking they are to sit in pews!

There is a large staging area approximately five metres across at its narrowest, some seven metres deep and approximately 2ft above the body of the chapel. A further twenty chairs are available in this area for choirs. There is a moveable ramp for wheelchair access to the staging area.

The sound and lighting system has been installed and is operated by ex-BBC sound and light technician and local resident Campbell Hughes. This system includes the ability to play CD disks to a professional level during theatrical events. The acoustics in the chapel are excellent and the venue has been used successfully for sound recordings. St. Peter’s has a very powerful three-phase electricity supply to meet the demands of the most exacting musicians and their equipment.

The Eype Centre for the Arts has a concert pitch piano on permanent loan from the Director for concerts. This is now on an A-frame to facilitate moving the instrument into the desired positions.

Parking for events is in the field adjoining the churchyard by courtesy of Mr. Martin Cox and the Highlands End Holiday Park. There is enough parking for more than 200 cars.
