A SPRING CONCERT FROM VIENNA

Florian Kitt and pianist Rita MedjimorecSaturday April 24th at 7.30pm:  In the first performance of their new 2010 British tour the highly successful duo of Austrian cellist Florian Kitt and pianist Rita Medjimorec bring a sparkling repertoire of classical chamber music by Schumann, Chopin and Grieg to St. Peter’s. The programme also gives a glimpse into the many contemporary works composed for Florian Kitt; by British composer Anthony Payne.

Florian Kitt is seen one of the best exponents of the contemporary ‘cello repertoire tempered with an extensive repertoire of established Classical and Romantic works. His recent performance of Gyōrgy Ligeti’s ‘Cello Concerto at the Royal Festival Hall in London with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Diego Masson brought particular acclaim by the press and public as did performances of two concertos by Nigel Osborne, both dedicated to Florian Kitt, which were successfully performed all over the world.

Rita Medjimorec graduated from the Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg, receiving the highest distinctions for both her teaching and soloist diplomas. She led a course for especially talented children at the Musikhochschule in Graz where she also taught piano accompaniment between 1973 and 1990. She currently holds the post of accompanist for the University for Music in Vienna.

The Duo have played and toured the world together yearly since the early 1990’s to immense critical acclaim for their perfectly coordinated ensemble playing described by The Strad, London as ‘….great sensitivity and the most searching interpretations.’
